Meet Brandon

"A great effort has been made to make me feel welcome, especially in the position of just leaving University and wanting to settle into a company where I can look forward to working each day and feel I have made some difference."

What was your background before Claritas?

After 6th form, I studied Classics at University of Birmingham, which allowed me to read literature in the original languages. This was both a challenge and an opportunity to learn skills that have proved invaluable for both my Masters and for work at Claritas. Revelling in a challenge and seeking to learn more about how businesses operate, I went on to do a Masters in International Business.

Why Claritas?

A chance encounter at the graduate fair with Claritas led to me researching the company and subsequently applying. The stand-out benefits for me were to work in my hometown of Birmingham, being part of a vibrant and growing company that demonstrates great care towards its clients and employees, and continuing to learn and develop myself through the graduate scheme.

Why tax?

The evolving nature of tax and tax issues makes it an exciting field to be a part of. For me, the complexity drew me into this subject and, although I applied with some vague ideas about tax, I found that the job requires skills that I had begun to develop previously such as presenting ideas, thinking creatively and in new ways, and networking.

Since beginning, I have become increasingly interested in seeing how other businesses value the work Claritas do. Whether it’s preparing documents for R&D companies, so they can fulfil their innovative potential from the extra money available to them, or by making the proposed tax arrangements understandable to the people and businesses involved.

How has your experience of Claritas been so far?

Every stage of the application process and each encounter with the company has demonstrated to me the unique work culture at Claritas. A great effort has been made to make me feel welcome, especially in the position of just leaving University and wanting to settle into a company where I can look forward to working each day and feel I have made some difference.

I am also excited for the future as there is clear progression and targets to reach in doing the graduate scheme, and this will enable me to help even more on different projects.
