Guy has over 25 years’ tax experience, in both practice and in-house roles. He trained in corporate tax with Price Waterhouse in Windsor, before moving to Birmingham to help set up PwC’s corporate tax compliance outsourcing operation.
He has worked in-house at Saint-Gobain and most recently spent six years as Head of Tax at RAC covering all aspects of the group’s corporate tax, VAT, employment taxes and insurance premium tax matters, having established and built up the tax team following the group’s private equity buyout from Aviva. At RAC he was also part of the small in-house deal team which took the group through two changes of ownership and multiple refinancings during that period.
Guy’s approach to tax is to be commercial and pragmatic, and to understand the business objectives first before seeking to advise on the tax position. He enjoys finding solutions to complex problems and has extensive experience of working closely with accountants and lawyers to ensure that the commercial, accounting, tax and legal aspects of transactions are aligned.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and also holds a PhD in Pure Mathematics.
Outside of work, Guy lives with his family in Wolverhampton.
