an is aged 61, married with two grown up children. He joined Claritas as a consultant in 2017 after retiring from Grant Thornton UK LLP's Leicester Office having been a tax partner for twenty eight years. Before that Ian trained with Price Waterhouse and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
During his time with Grant Thornton Ian held senior management positions including National Head of Financial Planning, National Head of Private Client Services and Director of the Grant Thornton Trust Company Limited which he established in 2004. Ian had responsibility for Grant Thornton's tax affairs and created the in-house Partner Financial Advisory Service providing benefits to partners such as critical illness and death in service cover as well as financial planning advice based upon lifetime cash flow modelling.
Over the last twenty years or so Ian's client service focus has been in the private client space with a focus on wealthy families, entrepreneurs, landed estates and trusts.
Ian is a Lay Member of the Council of the University of Leicester, its governing body, and is currently chair of the Audit Committee.
Away from work Ian enjoys reading, watching sport, growing vegetables, cooking, family history research, theatre and travel.
