Najma Qamar ATT
After commencing a career in retail banking and working for an international bank for 5 years, Najma pursued a career within accountancy and tax. This has provided her with over 19 years’ experience in the tax profession; including 8 years at PwC - Corporate Tax Compliance Centre specialising in the various aspects of tax compliance required by large corporates and dealing with HMRC on a regular basis. Najma is member of the Association of Taxation Technicians.
After leaving PwC, Najma worked at Grant Thornton and gained in-depth experience of corporate tax issues in multinational groups and owner managed business. This ranged from R&D claims, capital allowances claims, group tax issues and assistance with HMRC enquiries.
Najma joined Haines Watts and as Tax Manager provided support to the entrepreneurial sector within Worcestershire. She provided tax compliance services to the corporate and private clients as well as advisory services in areas regarding family business restructuring, partnerships, management buy-outs, tax due diligence, as well as expanding the corporate tax services to include R&D relief, Patent Box and capital allowance claims.
A move back into Birmingham brought Najma to Rödl and Partner, a German owned international accountancy, tax and legal practice. Here she was responsible for the corporate tax compliance for international clients with UK incorporated companies and UK permanent establishments.
During her final two years at Rödl and Partner Najma was promoted to Tax Director, responsible for corporate and international compliance and advisory services in corporation tax, expat tax, income tax, VAT and heading the payroll department. She was leading work on UK and cross-border tax advisory projects, including advising the corporate clients of the new Transfer Pricing regulations, Country by Country reporting and tax strategy in accordance with updated BEPS rules.
Najma is looking forward to developing her career at Claritas and providing clients with user friendly tax advice which is led by their commercial objectives, whilst ensuring they remain compliant with all relevant tax rules.
